It's tough to make a short horror film that people take seriously. Most that attempt the task end up with a picture that is more like a comedy. In the short film "Back Alley Butcher" they not only create a short horror film to be respected but also create a killer that's frightening. The story revolves around a pregnant waitress who is abducted in the middle of the night. She wakes up in a nightmare with a sadistic fate to match. The costume design and art direction in this film is outstanding. The Killer wares a mask that once revealed can deliver chills down your spine. Writer Robert James Hayes II derived this twisted plot from real life news stories. Director Joseph Guzman of Riverside shows great potential not only in art direction but also behind the camera. I was told that this film might be made into a full length feature, and I am sure that it will deliver something we can't forget.
